Privacy Policy

The short version: what you put into Periminder stays on your phone. We have no servers, no accounts, no analytics and no ads. Data only leaves your device when you use your phone's speech recogniser, or when you choose to connect a Google service or turn on cloud AI.
Who we are
Periminder is made by Yolara Studios, Cape Town, South Africa.
What Periminder stores, and where
Everything you capture — reminders, appointments, alarms, lists, tasks and symptom logs — is stored locally on your device. It is not uploaded to us; we don't operate any server that could receive it.
Because it is only on your phone, uninstalling the app deletes it, and we cannot recover it for you. You can also erase everything at any time from Settings in the app.
What we don't do
- No account or sign-up — we never ask for your name, email or password.
- No analytics, crash-reporting or tracking SDKs.
- No advertising, and no advertising identifiers.
- We never sell, rent or share your data. We don't have it to share.
When data leaves your phone
Speech recognition. When you tap the microphone, your voice is turned into text by your phone's built-in speech recogniser (on most Android phones, Google's). Depending on your phone and settings, that may happen on the device or on the recogniser provider's servers, under their privacy policy. Periminder receives only the resulting text. You can type instead of speaking if you prefer.
Your phone's calendar and Clock app. Appointments you capture are added to your device calendar, and alarms to your Clock app. If that calendar is synced to an account (for example Google), your calendar provider will sync those entries as it does any other.
Google Calendar and Google Tasks (optional). If you connect them in Settings, Periminder sends the events or tasks you create directly from your phone to Google, using your own Google account. Nothing passes through us. You can disconnect at any time.
AI help (optional). On supported phones, Periminder can use Google's on-device model (Gemini Nano), which runs entirely on your phone. Separately, you can choose to turn on cloud AI by entering your own Gemini API key; when enabled, the text of what you capture is sent from your phone to Google's Gemini API to help interpret it. Cloud AI is off unless you turn it on.
Permissions
- Microphone — so you can speak instead of type.
- Calendar — to add appointments to your phone's calendar.
- Notifications and exact alarms — so reminders arrive at the time you asked for.
Each is optional. The app still works without them, with fewer features.
Health information
Symptom logs are health information, which is why they never leave your device through us. Supplement information in the app is general information, not medical advice. Please talk to your GP or pharmacist before starting anything.
Children
Periminder is intended for adults and is not directed at children.
Changes
If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date at the top.
